on discovering my personal mission, question 7
Life on Purpose: 15 Questions to Discover Your Personal Mission
Question 7: What do people typically ask you for help in?
I guess I’d have phrased the question differently, but you get the point, the question is getting at personal strengths and and sometimes other people are better at identifying hidden strengths than we are ourselves.
People don’t usually ask me for *help* with tasks (moving things, etc.) maybe because they all know how busy I am, or how really I’d rather help them to hire someone than to help in this task-oriented way. But I do get consulted, by friends, colleagues, etc. At work people consult me on logistical matters, they come with “how to” sorts of questions I’m usually happy to answer. And within my little institute, people will ask for all sorts of “information” because I guess I’ve gotten good at finding things out. My friends ask for life advice, or, if not advice, perspective.
This question is interesting, and I think my difficulty in answering it reflects a turning point I’m at in my life. I’m beginning to see myself as someone with something to offer. I think previously I’ve been too conscious of my shortcomings to comfortably occupy a role, or space, of being a resource.
